And, after using this watch for some weeks, I really started to like it. I don't know if it is just the fact that it says I have a superior VO2 max, or the fact that it has a beautiful screen; but the experience of using it made me really happy. However, as a scientist, I want to provide you with objective data on how the Forerunner 965 actually performs. So, in this video, I'll be conducting a systematic and scientific review, evaluating the performance and accuracy of the Forerunner 965. I'll be evaluating the heart rate accuracy during different exercises, testing the sleep stage tracking against an EEG device, and taking a look at the GPS tracking performance. So, if you're looking for a comprehensive and reliable review of the Garmin Forerunner 965, then you've come to the right place. Let's dive in! The Garmin Forerunner 965 is one of Garmin’s top of the line running watches, and it shows. I personally think this is one of the most beautiful smartwatches from Garmin I have ever tested. I especially like the screen, which is a vibrant 1.4" AMOLED display. And, as I said, it has been a joy to use. That being said, the Garmin Forerunner 965 is not cheap, coming in at about 600 dollars. The question is, Is it worth that kind of money? Well this video is hopefully going to help you find out. However, in this video I do not want to focus on the looks or my subjective experience. Instead, I want to focus on the objective performance of this watch. So, I’m not going to list any specs or functionalities for you, since you can find those on Garmin’s website.
Finally they’re sending you the watches! 🖤🥹
Does it provide livetrack with mapping without needing a phone?
Tks, Rob! When it comes to heart rate, which watch do you think is the most accurate? Polar Vantage V3 or Garmin Forerunner 965? I run on the street and also cycle, so for me it's very important to have a watch with an excellent GPS and heart rate measurement. I watched your review of the Vantage 3 and was disappointed by the watch's findings. But I've also heard that the 965's heart rate measurement isn't so good, so I'm confused about which watch model to buy.
I think that it is also worth noting the longevity of watches, and battery life. In the past 10 plus years, I am still on my second Garmin watch. My FR 630 still lasts over 3 weeks on a single charge with smart notifications turned on, charges super fast, and was very accurate when I was running 50 plus miles a month before kids. Along with working two jobs and smart notifications turned on. I bought it refurbished for $75, it is still phenomenal. That said, my 965 arrives today, so I am very excited to have a new watch with all of the bells and whistles, and not need the chest strap to train in HR zones!
I currently have an apple watch series 6 and am considering getting a forerunning 965 as i mostly use my watch for running and the software / coaching functions seem to be better. But seems like I will be giving up a lot on heart rate accuracy. Anyone else that made this switch?
can you do the review on garmin 265/265s? Love your review so much :D
Could you review garmin forerunner 265 pls
we are waiting for amazfit balance review also garmin venu 3 review
Thx for this extensive review. Garmin uses the sleep tracking to do their ‘training readiness’ , ‘stamina’ and ‘stress’ etc calculations/information. If it’s this inaccurate, that means the conclusions drawn within ‘training readiness’ and so on are also inaccurate (probably even worse). Some of the problems might be solved by using a chest strap, but then, to have more accurate data, you’ll need to wear one at nights as well.
Another thing, i own an old apple watch model, good to see it’s more accurate than all of the garmins. I am using it with ‘always-on-screen’ off, the battery will last me 2 days, even when being at lower capacity (84%) these days. Not even close to garmins battery usage, but not as worse as some say here. Imho apples (lol) and oranges, as one is a sports watch and the other a smart watch.
I hoped the 965 would be a food replacement for my old apple watch, but now i am not so sure.
I'm not convinced that you are actually measuring the accuracy of the HR sensor, but rather the fit of the watch to your wrist geometry. For a real scientific analysis we would need a lot more participants in the study.
However, if you want to improve the results for yourself. I suggest doing the tests with the same (or a similar) wrist band for every watch. E.g. replacing the default silicone wrist band of Garmin watches with a Nylon Loop (like on the Apple watches) can vastly improve the fit.
Please, please compare Garmin FR965 against new SUUNTO RACE 🙏
Can u review the FR 265 please?
i was counting on hrv comparison to polar h10, but nevertheless great video
What I can't understand: how can the Venu2 be better than 965 since they are both Garmin? and the 965 is more expensive.
Could you repeat this test with the new updates, maybe the fixed something ?
awesome work
Gracias por un análisis tan detallado! 👏👏
Mi deporte habitual son las rutas de montaña.... orientación GPS en terrenos con dificultad de cobertura es lo que más valoro para decidirme en la compra del próximo reloj inteligente.
Saludos desde Madrid, España.🙋🏻♂️
Wtf you are amazing
Garmin Venu 2 test results are better than this. I chose the right watch.
